We are coming up on the “Great Day of Giving” in December but it’s never too early to lift up appreciation and thank the community businesses that have a giving heart and love for our youth. These businesses support the love for Christ and the great commission “to go and make disciples of all nations”. In scripture we learn that making disciples is truly living and sharing our Christian walk with others.
December the 2nd, 2014 has been set aside for such a day and we thank our business partners for their giving to Okaloosa/Walton FCA.
Costa Enterprises has honored six non-profit organizations to help raise awareness through their great love for giving. Please enjoy your coffee, compliments of Costa Enterprises, on Mondays and be a part of each months' “Great day of Giving” all year long. I’ve listed the months that each organization will be support:
Breast Cancer awareness - October/July
Fisher House -November/May
CIC (Children in Crisis) -December/June
CAC (Children Advocacy Center)- January/April
FCA (fellowship of Christian Athletes)- Feb/Sept
Taylor Haugen March/August.
You have heard me lift up the Taylor Haugen Foundation in support of FCA, and together we are heading to our huddles in a couple of weeks to share the vision of what we hope will be several projects of giving during the next several months to come.
Stubbs Orthodontics has also raised monies to support FCA this past month and again I would like to offer a big thank you for all that they continue to do for FCA.
We also want to take the opportunity to lift up Fort Walton Beach High School;
On the 8th of October several schools will be heading to FWB High to participate in a “Community Fields of Faith”. Way to go and what a shout out to Fort Walton Beach High School for hosting this year’s event! They have reached out to Choctaw, Liza Jackson, Meigs, Bruner, Destin and all the local churches for all to come and be a part of this great event.
We have had an amazing time this month with lots of reasons for celebrating. With this we know that God will continue to walk with us as we grow. For example, Seaside Middle School is growing out of all their options for meeting times, what a blessing!
Shout-out to our Volunteers and Youth Pastors:
Okaloosa/Walton a year ago had zero volunteers, now we have 25 volunteers and growing daily, what a blessing.
EVERY single campus had a “See you at the Pole” prayer time. What a blessing and an honor to serve these students and community leaders, and the youth pastors that have spent their time in prayer on their respective area campuses. I hope that you enjoyed the pictures on the social media Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/OWFCA website. Please sign up if you have not yet been a part of our daily shout outs!
FCA TO DO LIST:
We are heading into the final part of our FALL Sports season with Middle Schools and High Schools. FCA will be attending the specific season closing ceremonies at all the local schools. We would like to honor the student that stands out as the “2014 ALL IN -GO THE DISTANCE” FCA athlete both for boys and girls athletes. These medallion’s recipients will be selected by their peers and coaches.
Our first ever “ALL-IN” Legacy Challenger Banquet” will be on the 8th of December, honoring the teams in Okaloosa/Walton Counties. Each team will select an athlete that represents the FCA values and that carries Christ's legacy with him in his daily walk on and off the field.
The 2nd annual Signature Banquet is in the works….stay close for more details.
In closing I would like to say “AMEN” with a deeper reflection of what “Amen” means to us at Okaloosa/Walton FCA. Amen - carries agreement or affirmation, it endorses and praises our Lord and Savior. It shows our reliability and faithfulness in God. I would like to say “AMEN” to all that God does for Okaloosa/Walton and for Okaloosa/Walton FCA, for the students, teachers, coaches, volunteers and community donors and we lift his name on HIGH with a BIG AMEN!
